All is quiet here in Be'er Sheva on my first Shabbat. My jetlag kept me up all night. So today will be a quiet day.
Seeing the sand blowing around across the city streets made me realize that yes I am in the desert. My apartment is small and quiet. The shady courtyard is a lovely green space to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air which is surprisingly cool in the later part of the day. It's nice to see families and their dogs enjoying the space as well. The heat is very bearable as it is dry not humid, alas no frizz.
I sit reviewing my Hebrew from the books I brought from home. While shopping for food and supplies I realized that my year of Ulpan may not of been intense enough. (Revital-it wasn't you but me). I will continue to practice everyday. I know it will come.
