On my drive to work this morning at 7 AM, just beyond the soccer arena, I was treated with the sight of camels congregating atop a sand dune. A true sign that the city of Be'er Sheva is in the desert. I couldn't stop for a picture but I will try to stop tomorrow . The 20 minute drive to work is uneventful and I know the roads already.
I start my days with a lot of smiles and well wishes to the residents. I've come to know that each resident really has their own unique personality. Today I had a change of schedule as I remained in the residence. I was put to work with a wonderful woman named Yehudit. The plan was to help our four charges hand paint a silk scarf. We put the brushes in their hands and helped them along. She worked alongside me and showed me the way. She sang songs to them as we gave them touches of encouragement. Shmuel, a blind young man participated equally with joy. Then at snack time my new friend Nadav, who I feed at every meal showed me that he can pick up pieces of an apple and feed himself.
Yehudit left and Sarah another volunteer and I gave them papier-mâché to shape into forms for our new mobile.

In the corner you can see Rachael's arm (I don't have permission to photograph the residents yet) they call Rachael Safta/grandma as she is almost 60 years old. Rachael has a few words which is nice.
My day goes by quickly and I am eager to return tomorrow.
